INFRA-THERM HEATED HORSE BLANKET

Throughout history, the horse has held an unrivalled position in man's esteem, not simply for its amazing ability to be schooled for work-a-day chores and transport, but for its beauty of form and its ability to move at speed. For centuries, man has manipulated the genes of this noble beast to create the ultimate biological running machine. With such specialised development of muscle and bone also came an inherent spirit, that stoic spirit which gives the horse the will to run faster or jump higher can also be the animal's worst enemy in that injuries will not stop him. The instinct to perform can overwhelm pain and injury; only when that pain peaks at an unbearable level will he desert his quest for victory. Owners throughout the bloodstock world have sought the pain relieving properties of INFRA-RED THERAPY to restore their animals to peak performance. The gentle healing effect of the warmth emitted by the Gorix E-CT used in the INFRA-THERM RUG penetrate deep into the muscle tissue to increase blood flow to injured and painful areas. That uplift in circulation brings with it nature's building blocks that help to re-generate the damaged tissue.

Many trainers have experienced at first hand the ability of the Infra-Therm Therapy System to reduce healing time and bring an animal back to peak condition in time for important events.

Infra-Therm pioneered the use of far infra-red radiation delivered by rugs and pads held in close contact to the horse's body. The only previous utilisation of infra-red rays was by the "shot-gun" approach of haphazard emissions from assorted bulbs. Success for the system followed when an early prototype marketed as "Chaud Cheval" was used to treat Juliet Reed's "Rhyme and Reason" which was injured while running the 1988 Grand National - England's premier test of equine endurance. The Rug was to become the main factor in the recovery of this legendary animal.

For many years, accepted medical research has shown that INFRA-RED Radiation is of benefit in the treatment of soft tissue, muscular injury and strain. Expert Veterinary opinion was obtained at every stage of development of the INFRA-THERM THERAPY SYSTEM to ensure a product of maximum efficiency when applied to these conditions. One further criteria in the design of the system was that it should be low energy/low voltage as the safety of valuable bloodstock is of paramount importance to us at all times.

The low voltage of the INFRA-THERM Therapeutic Aids is used to excite the Gorix E-CT heating element that is encapsulated in a specially developed multi-layered textile/metallic (Fabritallic) sandwich which encourages the infra-red rays produced by the element to travel in one direction (towards the affected area) rather than radiating out in random fashion.

Other materials used in the structure of the sandwich have the ability to wick (transport) moisture vapour through the fabric and away from the skin, whilst at the same time retaining the heat generated, therefore keeping the animal warm and dry from perspiration. Outer thermal and waterproof layers hold back the elements maximising the animal's all-round comfort.

The fabritallic sandwich is used in the manufacture of a full size rug, a foal rug, a hood for neck and shoulder treatment and leggings. The temperature of the appliances are thermostatically controlled. Additionally, the leggings have compartments for cool gel packs for cold therapy.
